Hunger Fight!

In celebration of National Nutrition Month, the North Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (NFAND) is excited to be partnering with Hunger Fight in March 2025! Hunger Fight is a non-profit organization whose mission is to eradicate hunger and illiteracy in our local communities. Over the last eleven years, Hunger Fight has provided over 25,372,851 meals to children and seniors in NE Florida and South Georgia and over 372,176 books to preschoolers.

Food insecurity and hunger are major problems here in Florida. Here’s the harsh reality:

• 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 4 children are affected.

• Persistent hunger affects the health and cognition of our children. They are sick more often, recover more slowly, are more likely to be hospitalized, and are at greater risk for obesity later in life.
